Everything Folds, Unfolds, Refolds

Gazelli Art House, Baku

9 October – 20 December 2026

Curated by Dr. Alfredo Cramerotti and Auronda Scalera

Bringing together six artists — Sophia Al-Maria, Manal AlDowayan, Aziza Kadyri, Raya Kassisieh, Almagul Menlibayeva, and Elnara Nasirli — Everything Folds, Unfolds, Refolds explores how histories, materials, and cultural knowledge survive transformation.

Drawing on Gilles Deleuze’s concept of the fold, the exhibition considers the past and present as interconnected processes of continuous change, exploring how inherited forms, ecological histories, and technological systems are reinterpreted across generations.

Elnara Nasirli presents Ghost Bark (2026), tracing the transformation of natural caoutchouc into latex and metallic film. By bringing organic matter and its manufactured derivatives together, the work challenges distinctions between nature and technology, origin and imitation.
